Book Shelf

'Stone age... History lessons last week, it was taught that the cavemen communicated by hitting sticks on walls, they drew pictures in the sand, used hand signs to depict animals while hunting... Here we are, this century...we have so many languages, Literature, poems so many things to be appreciated. Man as a species has evolved so much compared to any other, well its just one area I am thinking about...Oops I should get started now, Johanna Spyri... WOW! I really want to read this'.

My mind was full of thoughts when I first read the prologue of the book 'Heidi', this is the first book I read, that actually kindled my reading habit. I was at the age of 10, when I started reading books and ever since, it became my hobby. The way Switzerland was described, 'The Alps' , drinking raw goat milk watching the snow-caped mountains, Oh god! you will instantly fall in love with this place and the author. I got to see this movie after 17 years and it was pictured the way I have imagined. Its the book for children, a book about a 5 year old girl, who comes to live with her grandpa after the early death of her parents. You cry, you laugh, you play with her and just love her when you actually read this book.

Sometimes I feel books are like hallucinogens, that take you to your own imaginary world... that's the success of the author, in fact you start developing thoughts that might surprise you at times. You start imagining things you have never ever encountered in your life. Its like, your mind gets bent.

Indeed, I miss those school days, my class teacher who, seeing my reading habit used to gift me with books, and all the time my prizes were books, instead of certificates :-) even for sports. Now when I see my bookshelf I remember her, I miss her...
In another week these books are going to the school library, as we are running out of space. Close to 50% of them are children's books so it might be of more use there. Now I realize, how Andy might have felt giving away his toys...
Little things matter a lot in our life, in fact they compose our life. Well, we have to admit the fact that we don't really own anything in life.
